The main force driving my current work is the concept of space; how places affect us, and how we, in turn, affect the world around us. This relationship is physical, emotional and psychological. When we create boundaries, roadways and cities we do so to create order. However, this process also introduces tension between man-made elements and the natural environment. In my most recent work, I have begun to explore these tensions and relationships by portraying, creating and redefining “space.” Thematically and formally, maps and landscapes play an important role in this investigation.
